My Story

I was always slim as a child and teenager, it wasn't until I started university at 18 that my problems started. Living away from home, pints of cider and Pizza on the way home were my downfall and I had put on quite a lot of weight by the time I had finished my degree.

I first joined Weight Watchers when I was about 20 - 1997. My goal has always been 10 stone 4 pounds and I reached

BEFORE
this goal and kind of yo-yoed between that and 11 stone for a few years. I met my future husband when I was 25 and was about 10 stone at that time.

Definitely the biggest challenge for me has been having my children. Three things during pregnancy meant my weight spiralled:
1. I have suffered from Ulcerative Colitis for many years and this was made worse by pregnancy. Meaning I felt quite unwell all the way through and diet was my last priority.

2. I also suffered from SPD and pubic issue while pregnant that made walking, any exercise even turning over in bed absolute agony, no exercise at all for 9 months is not good!

3. I viewed pregnancy as an opportunity to eat for 2!!

After my first child was born I took a few months to loose the weight and successfully kept it off until my second pregnancy. I even went down to 9 stone 7 at one point and a very slim size 10!

At my heaviest I was 14 stone 5 after having my second child.

I went back to weight watchers in the january 2011 and got a few months free attendance which helped to kick start my weight loss (as a gold member you get 6 months free after having a baby). I reached goal on 1t December 2011 loosing a total of 58 pounds.
AFTER

I firmly believe that Weight Watchers works with a bit of effort and planning. It is also a lifestyle choice as it only really works for me if I am attending meetings and living the life. If I loose interest the weight piles back on!
